The OKOJ Review Process
Peer review is a critical element in the rigorous and efficient evaluation of manuscripts submitted for consideration for publication and contributes significantly to the quality and integrity of articles that appear in OKOJ.
Reviewers are selected by OKOJ Section Editors. Standard review articles, surgical technique articles, and certain slide lectures are assigned to two or three reviewers; surgical videos and most other slide lectures are reviewed by OKOJ Section Editors. OKOJ reviews are double-blinded; the reviewer will not be informed of the identity of the author, and reviewers are instructed not to identify themselves or their institutions within the body of their comments. Reviews are read by the assigned Section Editor, who makes the preliminary decision to accept, reject, or ask the author to revise the manuscript. The Section Editor may request that the reviewer comment on an extensively revised manuscript.
The following volunteers, who represent every orthopaedic subspecialty, consistently provide scholarly critiques, thoughtful suggestions and recommendations, and insightful perspectives that we consider very seriously in our editorial evaluation of submitted manuscripts.
